Preventive Care And Treatment Of Leather

Before wear; every leather garment should be treated with a suitable product especially for leather such as a suede or nappa leather spray.

This Treatment

- Reduces the capacity of the leather to absorb dirt
- Protects against water and moisture
- Makes it easier to remove stains at a later date.

Storage
Never store your Leather Garments in plastic bags for a long time. You can store your Leather Garments in any other cloth e.g. Pillow case or Bed Sheet. This will keep dust away from your Garments.

Never store Leather Garments near Bright lights such as Sunny window, or any other Heat source i.e. radiators. This could affect the colouring and texture of your Garment.

Ironing
Place a piece of cotton cloth on top of the leather and iron it on low setting.

Removal of dust
Remove dust and refresh leather garments with a rubber or soft brush.

Glue
Glue traces can be removed with a plastic eraser.

Ballpoint pen
Stick sellotape over the ballpoint pen stain on the leather and press it on firmly. Remove the sellotape and rub off the remaining ink with a suede stone. Never treat a ballpoint pen ink stain by rubbing it with a circular movement. Work only with stroking movements.

Grease stains
Fresh grease stains can be absorbed with powdered chalk or baby powder. Sprinkle the powder thickly onto the stain and let it work for at least 12 hours. Carefully remove powder and residue by brushing.
This method is successful only if the leather has been well impregnated and the stains have not penetrated too deeply into the hide.
Pure grease stains sometimes disappear on their own after a few months.

Caught in Weather

If you are caught in such Weather like heavy Rain or Snow you should shake off excess water from your Garment and hang in a cool dry place.

Please note Leather Garments are not waterproof i.e. soaking your Garment completely in water can and will damage the leather.

Solvents
Never treat leather with powerful solvents such as acetone, benzene, or nail varnish remover.

Dry Cleaning Instructions

Always go to Professional Dry Cleaners, who will Guarantee their work.

If you have a 2-piece Garment, then Dry Clean them at the same time to ensure that the colours will match.

The general rule is:
Do not experiment on visible surfaces of the garment. Instead, try the treatment out on an invisible part. In case of doubt we recommend you to consult a dry cleaning specialist.
